Piloting SBA Common Metrics
Following the release of the SBA Framework for Common Metrics in 2010, its applicability was pilot-tested on real buildings in 2011, allowing to explore possible future integration into existing certification rating schemes. Conducted in seven research and certification bodies in five European countries and in the USA, this work highlighted that availability of homogeneous Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in each country is a crucial issue. The comparability of life cycle assessment environmental indicators was further tested in 2012 through a modelling study in each country, based on a single building design. The Piloting SBA Common Metrics report compiles the findings from this work.
